Case Study
About me
I am a 38-year-old housewife and a full-time mother of three children. My daily routine involves managing household responsibilities and caring for my family. I am not very physically active and most of my day includes standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
The problem before treatment
I have been experiencing back pain and knee pain since around 2020. Over time, the pain became constant and started to affect my sleep, walking, and ability to carry out household work. Some days, even simple tasks were very difficult. The ongoing pain also increased my anxiety and affected my mental wellbeing.
What made me seek help
I was referred to physiotherapy by my GP when my knee pain became severe and began to affect my walking. At that point, I felt I needed professional support to manage my pain.
My treatment and rehabilitation journey
I attended physiotherapy sessions and was given exercises and advice on posture and movement. I followed the programme and attended all sessions. Due to ongoing conditions such as osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and anxiety, my movement was limited. The treatment helped slightly with posture and knee pain.
The results and progress
There was some improvement in my posture and knee pain, but overall pain has continued due to my long-term conditions. The treatment helped me better understand my body and how to move safely.
Where I am now
I am still in pain but continue to work towards improvement and manage my symptoms alongside daily life.
My message to others
Don’t ignore even small pain. Always seek advice if you are unsure.
Kind regards,
