Case Study

About me

I suffered a very painful slipped disc at the L5/S1 level and required emergency surgery in 2013.

The problem before treatment

Following surgery, I had to relearn how to walk and regain basic mobility. The pain and physical limitations significantly impacted my ability to return to normal daily activities and work.

What made me seek help

After my operation, Dr Kotrba recommended that I attend physiotherapy and referred me to see Tim.

I attended Croydon Physio based at Addington Palace, where I met Tim, who immediately made me feel supported and encouraged throughout my recovery.

My treatment and rehabilitation journey

Tim created a structured six-week rehabilitation plan to help me gradually relearn how to walk, return to swimming and fitness activities, and get back to work at the airport.

The treatment provided much-needed pain relief alongside carefully progressed exercises that rebuilt my strength and confidence.

The physiotherapy was extremely beneficial, and I continue to see Tim to maintain a strong and healthy back, even after moving further away.

The results and progress

The rehabilitation process was life-changing. I was able to walk, exercise, and return to living a normal life without constant pain.

Tim also helped me manage flare-ups by providing exercises and pain-relief techniques that I could use independently when symptoms returned.

Where I am now

I still attend physiotherapy for top-up sessions when I experience flare-ups or spasms, which can sometimes occur due to work demands and a busy family lifestyle.

My message to others

I would have no hesitation in recommending Croydon Physio. All of the physiotherapists are kind, genuine, and caring, and you always leave feeling truly looked after.
