Everest Summit – Day 21

Dingboche Rest Day

It was good to give my body some time to rest. I think at 4350m altitude, your body can get stronger. From what I am hearing though, at EBC (5300m), your body does not get stronger but gets weaker. My team mates have been at EBC for over a week and I wonder what effect that is having on them.

Our plan is simple, tomorrow, we get a heli to EBC and then start rotations. These rotations are going to be hard, cold, and tiring.

Today we rest, chill out, having an Everest burger in Café 4410, use the internet, and recover.

During the evening, I wanted to help the lodge owner, Karma, so I went around all the tables at the lodge to request people do a 5-star Google review. We had shot a video and some photos earlier, and my plan was to boost his rating from 4.4 upwards. As a business owner it can be hard to ask people for reviews, but when it comes from myself, it's much easier for me to do it. Karma and Phubla was very grateful. They sat down with me several times at dinner. They couldn't do enough for us. I managed to get 3 or 4 5-star reviews. The rating went up from 4.4 to 4.5.

Karma was also very kind and gifted me a hot water bottle with soft cover.

Before bed, I packed my gear, did some body stats, froze my butt off, and then got into my electric heated bed with my hot water bottle and snuggled in very comfortably.
