Everest Summit – Day 9

Dingboche to Chukung

Up at 6am with the morning light, and hustle and bustle of movement around the lodge. My Withings sleep watch said I got just 5 hours 41 minutes sleep. Although I felt much better than last night. The 2 ibuprofens seem to have helped a lot. Resting pulse rate was low – 58 today. SpO2 was 82 – a little on the low side too. Hopefully that will push up a bit.

Had a lovely hot shower (45 degrees) from the gas shower. Then on to breakfast at 7:30am while I did some last minute charging and drone video Dropbox transfer.

We left the Bright Star tea house at 8:15pm and it took us 2 hours and 11 minutes to walk to Chukung. The walk was amazing. You follow the river upstream and are walking on lovely open planes. The walk is uphill, but the gradient is very gentle, so it does not really feel like a tough walk, even at 4600m.

We arrived at Chukung and checked into the Chukung Resort tea house. I got the solar charger out to top up my phone battery.

I lay down on the bed missing my son George, who has got a football game this morning. I never miss a game, except now. I’ve managed to speak to the kids almost every evening so far when I got stable internet.

Time from Dingboche to Chukung: 2 hours 11 minutes.
